这件清末缀珠实用银簪（见图），重4.5克，长11.5、宽0.7厘米。所缀珠宝为五颗珍珠，簪首是挖耳，在挖耳与珠饰之间，横錾三道简洁生动直线纹。银簪尾部尖端，可分发缝，使用时，将簪柄自上而下正插，或偏斜插入发髻，仅显露珍珠及上端部。整簪造型简约、雅丽轻巧、精致实用，为古代成熟优雅女性所钟爱。
一般认为，我国饰用珍珠的历史始于东周，常见于秦汉，是古代皇室后宫、王公贵族、达官贵人才可享用的贵重珠宝饰品。绵延至今数千载，人类从未间断对于珍珠的喜爱。
