  谷雨将过,正值春茶上市之时。茶是自古入画的主要题材之一,煮茶、奉茶、品茶等场面均为历代画家所传绘。尤其在明朝时期,达到一个新的高峰。据《野获编补遗》记载:“至洪武二十四年(1391)九日,上以重劳民力,罢造龙团,惟采芽茶以进。”于是自此时期开始,散茶流行,文震亨《长物志》载当时饮茶方式:“吾朝所尚又不同,其烹试之法,亦与前人异。然简便异常,天趣悉备,可谓尽茶之真味矣。” 可知由于饮茶方式的简便,使得茶事更为普及,也更为率真天趣,文人雅集亦惟茶而兴。陈继儒亦云:“一人得神,二人得趣,三人得味”,在此氛围下,相应的茶事书画也超过前朝, 以茶入画,以画释茶成为当时的流行。现回顾往年拍卖,亦不乏有此时期的茶事之作:

  “半晴半雨襟难披,榴花蒲叶枝枝奇。

  节佳何与道人事,笑支瘦骨临窗西。

  叩门者谁数行字,岕山之茗妙新至。

  一介持赠手自封,烹傍炉香聊自试。

  何以当此双眉开,沦铛然炭先悠哉。

  永宁吸水莫问价,玉川分椀还胜杯。

  白隐碧漾雪何翠,心从古沁诗渐催。

  吟成数语半难就,须待先生同结构。

  来朝雨霁兴如何,一棹凉风满怀袖。”

  这是石涛叙述《品茶图》的题诗,也是他当下的心情写照。康熙二十六年(1687)初,石涛离开金陵渡江至扬州,实际此次离开金陵是石涛准备第一次北上进京,特此作《生平行》长诗别南京友人,但应春江社友之招,赶赴扬州,便暂缓了北京之行,前往扬州。本作《品茶图》便是作于此年,石涛正交游于扬州之时。画自题“丁卯(1687)搜得丙寅(1686)重午前雨中解元胡孟行先生以岕见赠一稿,来朝清爽,一于岕同烹即熟矣,画笔随就,并成短句,未知有当于七椀两腋以供一笑否?今用书此,尽自是清湘一家言。石涛济道人广陵树下”得知本作虽作于康熙二十六年(1687),所绘却为康熙二十五年(1686)石涛在南京期间与胡孟行品茶之事。胡任舆,字孟行,号芝山,南京上元人,康熙二十年(1681)乡试第一,中得解元,康熙三十三年(1694)又以状元登第。而款中题为“解元胡孟行”,也可说明本作在时间线上的呼应。其中又提及胡孟行以岕赠之,岕为岕茶,初现于明初,失传于清雍正年间,制作工艺复杂,从而导致失传,岕茶为当时贡茶,沈周《岕茶别论》中曾题:“闽之清源,武夷,吴郡之天池虎丘,武林之龙井,新安之松萝,匡庐之云雾,其名虽大噪,不能与岕茶相较也”,可见岕茶之珍贵及石涛与胡孟行友谊之深厚。上海博物馆藏《清湘书画册》亦为石涛答胡孟行之作,其诗中提到胡孟行当时所受到非议,石涛共感,更引其为己白雪知音。

  陈洪绶擅画人物,其绘有多幅以茶事为题材的作品流传于世,在北京保利2019春拍中所现的《炼芝图》亦是其一。画面绘一小童持藤杖立于老人身后,目光落在画面右下方的铜炉之上,铜炉内文火冉冉,上烹桃花,似是在烘干制作桃花茶饮。明朝是中国茶类大发展时期,花茶也是源于宋朝,而成于明朝。明朝在废团茶为散茶,大量生产炒青、烘青、晒青绿茶的同时,也为花茶生产奠定了基础,出现“茶引花香,以益茶味”的花茶制法。

  《松溪茶话》画两位高士对坐于山溪之畔,一童子在一旁的梅花下烹茶,陈师道曾载烹茶法:“以佳茗入磁瓶火煎,酌量火候,以数沸蟹眼为节,如淡金黄色,香味清馥,过此而色赤不佳矣!”梅树奇峭可爱,姿态横绝,数株松树挺拔苍翠,错落其间。高士所临清溪如练,有小桥横跨,对岸梅树一株,以相呼应。梅蕊用白粉点出,花萼略用胭脂,颇似初春时节将开未开的形态。徐渭《徐文长秘集》载品茶之境:“宜精舍,宜云林,宜永昼清娱,宜寒宵兀坐,宜松月下,宜花鸟间,宜清流白云,宜绿藓苍苔,宜素手汲泉,宜红妆扫雪,宜船头吹火,宜竹里飘烟。”清旷闲远,此作正应徐渭所述之境。
