  此尊大随求佛母造像,在丹萨替寺所出之单体造像中,可谓最有富丽堂皇之感的一尊,该造像脸型宽大,面部饱满,杏仁状大眼,四肢粗壮,仰莲座的莲瓣饱鼓,莲座低矮,装饰镶嵌华美繁复,均为丹萨替寺造像的典型艺术风格,而令其富有如此雍容华贵之感的核心雕塑语言,应该是其舒展自在的躯体形态,其四面八臂环绕躯体两侧向周边立体的展开,如花朵盛放般张扬而奔放,同时又保留了正面二主臂于胸前结说法印的正面视觉符号,给佛母以气势非凡之感,其上身略微右倾,呈现出含蓄的动势,而下身则区别于一般随求佛母造像的全跏趺坐或半跏趺坐,而采用了代表着自在之态的游戏坐姿,左腿曲卧于莲台之上,右腿向前伸出,脚下踩一莲花,身姿呈现出松弛的动感,这一造型方法使得整尊造像的重心下移,令观者感觉既宽厚稳定的同时,亦感觉佛母的平易近人。

  大随求佛母,梵文为maha-pratisara,音译作摩诃钵罗底萨落,乃观音菩萨之变身,略称随求菩萨,密号与愿金刚。系密教胎藏界曼荼罗观音大随求菩萨院中之一尊,是著名长咒《普遍光明焰鬘清净炽盛如意宝印心无能胜大明王大随求陀罗尼》的本尊,为唐密极重要的大法,功德浩大,赞不能尽;此咒等同于佛,主要体现在灭罪、成佛、满愿、除灾、退敌等方面。作为观音的化身,大随求佛母除了有常随众生之愿求而施予之意,同时亦传达了观音‘于怖畏急难之中,能施无畏’之本意。

  宋代以降开始大量流行的观音自在坐姿,以及明清造像中常见的游戏坐姿,皆源自古印度造像中的转轮王坐,其与全跏趺坐、半跏趺坐,为诸佛之三种坐法。观自在菩萨如意轮瑜伽云:“礼,诸佛已全跏半跏或轮王跏,随意而座。”此种坐法,大抵左足深屈于内,右足直立,左手于左股之后着地,右手之手头或前膊梢边,安于右膝上,因而上半身之重量,稍倾于左方,因其姿态富于动感而于后期变化丰富。为此坐者,意义所在,盖为“即发大悲心,拔济利安乐”。

  这一姿态在雕塑语言上最重要的意义是改良了全跏趺与半跏趺坐姿中的庄严肃穆之感,突破了佛菩萨像必须要中正规范的窠臼,通过松弛的腿部姿态给观者传递了一种自在无碍的情景感,仿佛台座之上的尊神宛如信众身边富有一颦一笑的家人般亲切而美好,是予愿与济世菩萨最恰如其分的身体姿态,并富有极强的艺术感染力,可见于众多精美的菩萨尊像之中,例如2015年秋季拍卖的17世纪铜鎏金自在观音与2014年秋季拍卖的12世纪帝释天。

  这两尊西藏造像,均以无与伦比的塑形技艺、结合极具张力的艺术表现,展现出帝释天与观音菩萨的殊胜形象。帝释天为释尊之守护神,其采用游戏坐姿表现出情绪的松弛与祥和,然而其四肢肌肉饱满,线条简约有力,使得其在闲逸的姿态中传达出一种孔武有力的无畏之感,仿佛一头静坐的雄狮,伺机以待,松弛却不松懈,充满动势,恰如《大随求陀罗尼》中所示:“能于急难中,无畏大自在”。而另一尊观音菩萨则面容俊美、目视远方,四肢修长的线条彼此交错,搭建出一种飘逸烂漫之神态,如音律般传递着抚慰心灵的柔和情绪,是尼泊尔风格中最为精道的艺术表达,仿佛玄奘所译《心经》里说的那样,“观自在菩萨,行深般若波罗蜜多时”。

  金铜造像因其材质的稀有通常难以如木雕、石雕般拥有震撼人心的体量,却也因其材质与工艺得以精工细作,温暖而夺目,而佛教造像通常以单一主尊为主题,一旦脱离了其原始的供奉环境即受到了缺乏叙述性的限制,对于不了解佛教教义的观者则显得孤立而不够丰富。而此四尊造像却并未受此限制,即便脱离了其自身原始的供奉环境,却依然保留着鲜明的时代风格与雕塑语言。观者了解佛教与否并不重要,其自在放松的姿态在第一时间即传递出了绵绵不绝的无畏与自在之感,正是雕塑美术中最精彩的杰作,亦是嘈杂迷乱世界中最能够随求静心的精神食粮。
